Preparations

Print the questionnaires and the pictures; bring the evidence; put colours on the evidence based on the group colour; hide the evidence in the space.

Instructions

Step 1 — 5 minutes
The group is going to be divided into 4 sub groups, each with a trainer as mentor and their own colour. Every group will play a kind of treasure hunting, but instead of a treasure you're going to find a definition (which can also be a treasure!). There are 4 steps in this “Definition Hunting” and we will describe it step by step.
Step 2 — 15 minutes
Questionnaire: Each group has to answer to few questions asked by the mentor. The aim is not to find the right question, there is not one right answer, but to understand what is the theme of the definition (see attached questionnaires). When the group has understood the theme it can move to the next step.
Step 3 — 15 minutes

Evidences:

Each group should find the evidences within the theme of their definition hidden in the space. The evidences are printed pictures and little things signed by the colour of the group (see attached schemes of evidences). When all the evidences are collected each group can move to the next step.

Step 4 — 15 minutes
Definitions: Each group should write down the definition they were hunting for with the help of the answers on the questionnaires and the evidences. The trainer mentor can help the group (see attached definitions).
Step 5 — 15 minutes
Sing a song: Each group should set up a little show to sing a song for the other groups to make them understand which definition they hunted. Objects in the space or evidences can be used.
Step 6 — 15 minutes

Performances/shows of the groups.

Closing the activity and getting ready for the debriefing.

Debriefing

The debriefing is about the definitions: Did you already know the definition, and if so: how did you learn about them? Or is it something new, and if so: how do you feel about learning them? What memory do the definitions trigger?

Tested outcomes

This is an activity implemented in a regular basis by the educators of Il Cassero.

Tips for facilitation

Try to make the group agree on the answers and the things they do. Make it funny and friendly. Be aware that there can be very different levels of knowledge and self confidence on these themes.

Potential follow-up

This is a good starting point for many of the activities described in this platform.

Needed resources

You need: Big space with lots of objects (to hide evidences) Evidences Printed pictures Printed questionnaires Papers and pens.
