Preparations

The facilitator prepares the flipcharts and markers on the tables.

Instructions

Step 1 — 5 min.
The facilitator explains what is need analyse and is used for.
Step 2 — 20 min.
The facilitator divides the group to 5 teams (teams of 4 and 5). Each team has a flipchart on the table. The teams should discuss about the needs of gender equality and decide one of them which is most highlighted. The teams write the word (most highlighted need of gender equality) on the middle of the flipchart.
Step 3 — 20 min.
The teams try to find sub-needs/words by using letters and topic of the word which is written on the middle.
Step 4 — 20 min.
Afterwards the team will present their flipcharts one by one.

Tested outcomes

A similar method was conducted on 20th of April 2015 in the training course “ECYON for Non-formal Education” by Hatice Yildirim in order to get to know about needs of young people as a youth worker. Main challenge was creating needs directly related to the highlighted one which is written on the middle. That was hard to product sub-needs according to main need. The participants may irrelevantly create other words.  

Tips for facilitation

The facilitator should give instruction of the second round by linking to the first round. The big picture/scrabble should be seen connected and harmonic.
